Warner Bros. Discovery’s internship offered me a great amount of experience in a large-scale business. Most importantly, I was able to practice intricate cross-team collaboration and communication for a massive marketing campaign.
I worked across departments.
Collaborated with agency professionals to create paid and organic content across multiple social media platforms.
Assisted in the creation of weekly high-level reports using data from PlayerXP and SproutSocial
Organized a detailed strategy deck for TikTok
Gathered community feedback for developers during stress tests
Regularly updated multiple content calendars with assets, copy, and ideas
Wrote copy for livetweets, character cards, and announcements
Moderated Twitch/TikTok live events for NetherRealm Studio’s Kombat Kast
Assisted influencer and event managers at multiple events (Summer Game Fest, EVO 2023)
Gained professional industry experience.
The Strategy.
Creating content that blurs the line between games & pop culture, making a space that uplifts both.
Inserting WBG into sister IPs, uplifting other aspects of the brand, and going with/making new trends.
Leaning into the existing games around WB’s titles to show that “we get it”.
Become PART of the community, NOT the overlord of it.
The Process.
Within 3 months, I was able to quickly teach myself advanced video editing skills using CapCut to try a genre of content on TikTok called edits.
I excitedly spent hours watching tutorial videos on YouTube, creating mood boards for tailored aesthetics (dedicated to individual game characters and themes), and scrolling through thousands of TikToks to really get a sense of the community I was trying to reach.
The Result.
Comradery with more fandoms and user communities
+1.4M (+45.26%) increase in views
+29.2K (+139.65%) increase in followers
+388.2K (+139.52%) increase in engagement
Garnered over 5M views and 52K followers in less than 3 months.
